WP-United v0.6.0 Preview Now Available

Filed under: WP-United Development — Jhong at 2:01 am on Friday, September 28, 2007

After a long time sorting everything out — not least having to recreate a decent test environment due to my relocation, and then dealing with the multiple updates of phpBB3 & WordPress, I should be back on track for releasing v0.6.0

In the meantime I have released a preview version here — for those waiting for the new release, you can test it out and post any problems on the forums.

Update 1/10/07: The preview download has been updated (x2) to improve cross-posting handling and WP 2.3 compatibility.

Will there be a change log available for this release?

I’ll have to setup a mirror dev site to test out this new version along with phpbb 3 RC5 and WP 2.3

Thanks for this as usually :)

Yes, there will be once it is released properly. This really is a ‘preview’ — I just wanted to get something out because of the length of time it was taking.

Good idea for the dev site. Hopefully I can release a polished version in a few days.

Nice, looking forward to v0.6! :)

I was wondering, does wordpress comments also count for the user postcount in phpbb? And if no, would that be difficult to implement?

Hi, thanks!

WordPress comments aren’t cross-posted yet, so they wouldn’t count.

I will probably enable cross-posting of comments in a future version. The difficult part is tying WP posts to their respective forum posts, and that’s already been done in v0.6.

From a usaility standpoint, I’m a big fan of keeping blog & forum posts separate in most cases anyway….

Ok cool, and without crossposting? Because most of my content is not going to be crossposted.
The reason I would like to have them count as one is that I want activity to be rewared with karma/credits. I guess that can also be done when they are seperated, but as I want people to experience the site as one, I’d like any posting activity to count as one.
Well, its just an idea hehe, but if this script has this feature I’ll definately donate some cash when I’m going to use it :)

Yes, the cross-posting is atributed to the phpBB user who is integrated to the WordPress user posting the blog post. It’s just like any other phpBB post — their post count goes up. :-)
