WP-United v0.6.0 for phpBB3 released

Filed under: Release Announcements, phpBB3 — Jhong at 6:35 am on Sunday, December 2, 2007

I’m delighted to finally be able to announce the first release candidate of WP-United for phpBB3.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Updated to work with phpBB3 RC8 & WordPress 2.3.1
  • NEW: Cross-posting of blog posts to forums, complete with auto html-to-BBCode conversion. Cross posting drop-down controlled by phpBB3 per-forum permissions.
  • Fixed new user link problem in forum stats widget link.
  • Fixed error in German install file.
  • Fixed problem with user profile links not getting created.
  • Fixed ‘auto redirects when phpBB in wordpress not working’.
  • Fixed phpBB2/3 abstracting errors and user class problems.
  • Fixed encoding problem in wpu-plugin.php.
  • …and many other fixes and improvements.

It is recommended that all users upgrade. If you’re using a previous version, the upgrade is easy — just follow the appropriate upgrade MODX file included in the /contrib folder.

You can download your copy from the Download Page!

Happy blogging!

Successfully upgraded WP and phpBB and installed WP-United last night, but there are some problems with the CSS and the ability to change user’s first and last names using WP–or is the last one really not possible?

Tried a day to manage user and forum roles and permissions.

A question to ask: is there an easy way to map a forum to a wordpress category? Or I must create wordpress categories (with the same names in phpBB) one by one?

Thanks. Though it looks like I’ll have to wait until it is confirmed that it’ll work with the final phpBB3 Olympus released yesterday :D

Development continues. There is an unofficial version which works well with WordPress 2.7 and phpBB 3.0.4 which is available from my site, NitemareCafe.com.
